Mon Club
I joined the team as they were launching their new application Mon Club to replace the loyalty card and played an important role relating to the app itself, catalogs and Point of sale (POS) displays.
These are screenshots taken from a phone and used in a mockup to show what the app looks like. For the app, I was in charge of designing the visuals and making sure the information were correct. Whether you go in-store or open the app, you can find catalogs, look at promotions and more to take a look at products on sale. One of the main features on the app, is you can keep track of how many points you are accumulating, by purchasing products on sale, which can then be used to buy other products.

POS displays are what I worked on the most, that were displayed in stores as a type of sales advertising in which goods are displayed close to a transactional purchase location. Certainly, those displays were used with the aim to attract customers' attention to products and encourage them to make purchases.

Furthermore, I redesigned the old visual on the POS system for customers at grocery stores, as a way to advertise and insist customers to download the app.
The visual is a GIF and has an infinite loop, cycling through information to communicate to their clients.

If you wish, you can visit the website Mon Club and download the app.
GBU France
I create visuals for an association I am part of that is called GBU (Rennes to be precise), that we communicate on our Instagram page for our followers to be informed on the events we have going on every week, except for the holidays.

Maple Joe
The intention was to redo the visuals by proposing a visual layout for the Instagram feed for Maple Joe. Because it had to be done in 4 days, there were design choices that had to be made to speed things up and hand it in time.

I decided on creating illustrations for the overall design and animations because they grab attention, help people retain information better, and generate greater engagement in general. They also allow to create different kinds of content.
The idea was to convey a message on gourmandize. I came up with a storytelling to tell a story to insist people on how pleasing it is to savor the magnificent maple syrup, with wonderful animations of course.

The Forbidden type
The goal of this project was to work in groups to create a font in 4 days. It had to be based on an architectural building that exists anywhere in the world and we chose the forbidden city in China that was designed by Kuai Xiang.

We analyzed the particularities of the buildings and we retained the concepts of foundation and structure that the forbidden city represents. To simplify the work, we were each given tasks in order to be efficient, working as a team, gradually getting one thing done after another.
The way we did it, was that we created each letters on paper, they were then scanned, and we finalized them by using the software FontLab.
Once finished, we had to write texts to showcase the font we created and a visual using one of the letters, in which we chose the letter "n", because we find that it best represents the overall structure of the forbidden city.
Finally, we also had to create a simple loop animation on Adobe After Effects, export it and import it on Artivive, and it enables you to view your digital art with the augmented reality app.
You can download the font we created and use it for your own personal use.
Keep in mind that this was made in 4 days and it is not perfect.

Promotional events
Friends International (FI) is a Christian Charity in the UK & Ireland that run events for International students. I did a year of internship with FI in Birmingham and was tasked to work a few designs to promote some of our social events on the Instagram page for students to build friendships and meet Christians while they're in the UK & Irelad for their studies. They were all made with Affinity Designer.
40 year celebration video
In Birmingham we celebrated 40 years of FI since it was founded in the country. We held an event to celebrate that with people that have been involved for many years as volunteers or staff workers. I made a video showing the history of FI (for Birmingham specifically) from when it started to where we are today.
For the video, I created essential graphics that I exported from After Effects and imported into Premiere Pro to put it all together.
Trying something new
I tried something new by making an email banner for newsletters not with adobe, but with Affinity an Adobe alternative.
I wanted to test the water by getting out of my comfort zone from using Adobe.
It was not easy, especially how I am so used to Illustrator's shortcuts for instance, other than that, the interface and the essential tools you need are all there.
I decided to make a gif in a loop, as I don't these often, but I very much like the final result by adding a wave transition that cycles through the visuals.
However this was done with After Effects as Affinity does not have an alternative.

About
Hi I'm Varick and I come from a beautiful tropical place in the Pacific called Vanuatu. I left my home island to study in New Caledonia for 2 years in multimedia, where I learned the basics of communication, web and infographics. I then decided to do my 3rd year in France, where I did a course to specialize in graphic design as infographics is what I was interested in during my 2 years of study in New Caledonia. However, before going to France for university I worked at GBH for 8 months for my first job as a graphic designer.Currently, Iām an established graphic designer working my way to perfect my skills and knowledge at a professional level.
With a passion for design and a commitment to excellence, I specialize in crafting captivating visuals that leave a lasting impression. My focus is on exploring visual design, typography and more that help bring a unique design and to communicate ideas visually. While you are here, do not hesitate to take a look at some of my best works that I will continue to add.
